Uche Ignites Dominant Palace Victory at Irish Side Shelbourne.
Even though entering their first-ever European adventure, Crystal Palace are learning at a rapid pace. Missing key figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a commanding result that virtually guarantees them a spot in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.
A further victory in their next fixture against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to seal direct entry to the last 16, especially after a previous setback against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Seize the Opportunity
This occasion provided a chance for several Palace's fringe players to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning after arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a clinical goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a another, scoring for the second consecutive match.
The Shelbourne side that had concluded their domestic season were outmatched against a largely rotated Palace lineup. The visitors were further weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg injuries.

The formerArsenal striker didn't need to wait long to get his goal, prodding home from a yard out after Uche's effort had hit the post.
Shelbourne were hanging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for a couple of agricultural tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the crossbar with a header from a corner.

The match was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of comically weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.
Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring with his very first touch, but saw his shot blocked.
Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then blazed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still room for development in his game.
The only concern for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, capping an otherwise perfect night for the visiting side.
